The world's first CAP1400 DN450 blasting valve engineering prototype has successfully completed functional valve opening tests

On August 25, 2014, the world's first CAP1400 reactor type nuclear power plant successfully conducted functional valve opening tests on the DN450 nuclear primary blasting valve engineering prototype in Dalian. Personnel from National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Nuclear Power Office of the National Energy Administration, Research and Design Institute of Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Institute, State Nuclear Engineering Co., Ltd., Dalian Municipal Government, Dalian Economic and Information Commission, Shanghai Power Equipment Complete Design and Research Institute, Chemical Materials Research Institute of China Academy of Engineering Physics, Dalian University of Technology, AVIC Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., Dalian Dagao Valve Co., Ltd. and other units witnessed the valve opening test.       The DN450 blasting valve is a key equipment for the passive technology of CAP1400, and is the largest drainage valve in the domestic CAP1400 nuclear power unit. It uses a single-sided shear method to open the valve. This valve is designed and manufactured by Dalian Dagao Valve Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute and China Academy of Physical Engineering Chemical Materials Research Institute.       This functional valve opening test is the first test explosion after the development of the 1:1 engineering prototype, which played an important role in obtaining key test data and verifying the design of the engineering prototype. After testing, the key data obtained in this experiment are basically consistent with the calculated values, and the experiment has achieved complete success. This marks that China has the ability to independently design and manufacture CAP1400 nuclear power rupture valves.
