Main functions:

Relying on the preloading force of the spring to achieve rapid automatic closure and prevent backflow:

1) When flowing forward: the valve disc opens and the medium passes smoothly

When the medium (liquid, gas, etc.) flows in the forward direction (specified flow direction), the pressure of the medium will act on the valve disc, forming a backward thrust. When this thrust is greater than the spring force, it will overcome the spring force and lift the valve disc, forming a channel between the valve disc and the valve seat, allowing the medium to flow from the inlet side to the outlet side. At this point, the spring is compressed, storing elastic potential energy and preparing for the valve disc's reset.

2) When the medium flows backwards or stops flowing: the valve disc closes to block the backflow

When the pressure of the positive medium decreases, stops flowing, or when reverse pressure occurs (the medium attempts to flow back), the forward thrust acting on the valve disc decreases or disappears. At this point, the compressed spring releases its elastic potential energy, generating a forward thrust that quickly presses the valve disc back onto the sealing surface of the valve seat, causing the valve disc to tightly adhere to the valve seat, thereby blocking the reverse flow of the medium.

3) Sealing guarantee: the fit between the valve disc and the valve seat

The sealing surface between the valve disc and the valve body is precision machined and adopts a metal hard sealing structure. When the valve disc is reset under the action of spring force, the sealing surface is in close contact, forming a reliable seal and completely preventing the backflow of the medium.

Application status of achievements:

The research results can be directly used for the manufacturing of CAP1000/1400 nuclear grade axial flow check valve products, and can also be applied to subsequent domestic nuclear power units such as CAP1000, EPR, CPR, etc.

Through research, we have comprehensively mastered the core technology of nuclear grade axial flow check valves, including the design and manufacturing technology of the entire machine and key components, performance testing and verification technology, and valve whole machine identification technology (including analysis and testing). The research results lay the foundation for the innovation of CAP1000/1400 nuclear grade axial flow check valves.
